Students Will Have the Opportunity to Choose Projects or Clubs They Wish to Participate In: New Initiative

During the recent government meeting, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports proposed to approve a new state educational standard for general education. Among other changes, it is planned to include three components in the educational plan: a state component, a school component, and an individual component. Unlike the current standard, the necessity of adding an individual component arises from the need to respond to the interests and needs of students. The individual component allows students to choose from the projects or clubs offered by the school that they wish to participate in.

This is particularly important at the third level of general education, where the weight of the individual component is fifteen percent, allowing the formation of a personalized timetable and curriculum for students. In line with the introduction of a credit system at the third level, this will enable learners to engage flexibly with various institutions operating in the community, ensuring that the achievements are recorded by the general education institution through the credit system.

Another proposed change is the mandatory requirement for project-based learning starting from the seventh grade, which will help develop key competencies of learners in the current reality, particularly in terms of creativity and research skills, independent analysis, and critical thinking.
