State Structures in Armenia Respond Only to Criticism Directed at Their Leadership

Head of the 'Henarqet' analytical center, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote on his Facebook page: 'A few days ago, on February 1, I referred to an official statement posted on the Russian Ministry of Defense's website, which informed that on January 30, two Azerbaijani servicemen arrested by the Armenian National Security Service in the area of Tegh village in Syunik were transferred to Azerbaijan on February 1, with the mediation of the Russian side. My main question related to this incident was regarding the facts of the arrest, the circumstances, the hasty return to Azerbaijan, and the manner in which this incident was communicated to the Armenian public through Russian official channels. Five days have passed since the incident, yet no state structure in Armenia has provided clarifications regarding this or any of its elements. In Armenia, a large number of state structures typically respond quickly only to criticism directed at their leaders and act promptly when the circulating information poses a threat to the overall interests of the government,' Abrahamyan wrote.
