No Significant Outflow of People After War, Says Sinanyan
The Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan, stated that he is not familiar with the numbers of those leaving and arriving in Armenia in recent days. He made these remarks during a conversation with reporters after a government session, noting that the figures are known to the Migration Department.
Speaking about the numbers post-war, Sinanyan mentioned that while they do not possess specific data, they are aware that there has not been a significant outflow, mainly because such an opportunity has not existed. “Now that air travel is becoming more regular, we will have a clearer picture,” he added.
Sinanyan noted that there is always an expectation for immigration; however, it is undeniable that there is currently a decline among the population due to negative outcomes. “Therefore, I wouldn’t be surprised, or rather I expect that at least in the short term, it is possible that there will be an outflow of people from Armenia,” he said.
