New Details from the Meeting: What Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan Said
The leaders of six opposition parties finally met on February 2. The meeting took place late in the evening and lasted for 2-3 hours. Details about the meeting and the issues discussed have been revealed by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.
Present at the meeting were Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan, Arthur Vanetsyan, Vazgen Manukyan, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, and Gagik Tsarukyan.
According to reports from the newspaper, the main topic of the meeting was once again the question of whether to participate in possible early elections, and there were no significant changes in this regard, as the parties maintained their positions thereafter. For instance, Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the BBP, stated that he would go alone to the early elections, while Arthur Vanetsyan favored participation with several parties. On the other hand, Serzh Sargsyan, the president of the HHK, was completely against participating in early elections if Nikol Pashinyan remained in power.
Both the Federation and Robert Kocharyan advocate for a unified struggle. It is also noteworthy that the need to intensify street protests and rallies was mentioned during the meeting.
However, many details were not discussed during the meeting, as Robert Kocharyan was set to depart for Moscow, where he also had meetings planned.
At the same time, Vazgen Manukyan continues to be regarded as the unified candidate of the opposition, and there is no desire to marginalize him. This indicates that the opposition forces have not yet reached a consensus.
