Iran Can Use Armenia as a Bridge to Sell Its Goods, Says Vahan Kerobyan

The development of trade and facilitating Iran's access to third-country markets are among the priority issues between Armenia and Iran. This was stated by Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, as reported by the IRNA agency.

In an interview with the media, Kerobyan announced the signing of an agreement with Iran in various sectors, noting that a working group will be established to expedite the implementation of joint agreements between the two countries.

According to the Armenian Minister of Economy, construction equipment and materials, fruits and vegetables, and petrochemical products are the main goods traded between the two countries, while a limited range of metallic and technical equipment is exported from Armenia to Iran.

Emphasizing that Armenia is a member of the EAEU's large market, Kerobyan stated that Iran can access various countries through Armenia. "Iran can establish production centers in Armenia to supply its goods to third-country markets," the minister said, adding that Iran can use Armenia as a bridge to other parts of the world to sell its products.

Kerobyan also informed that the authorities of the two countries have agreed to increase trade to at least $1 billion within the next six months, as the current trade volume between the two countries stands at $400 million.

He also announced plans to launch the Tehran-Yerevan railway to address transportation issues between the two countries.
