A Wave of Hot Air from the Sahara Desert Will Penetrate the Republic's Territory: Anomalously High Thermal Background Expected
February has begun with anomalously high thermal background across the republic. From February 1-3, the daily average temperature was 4-6 degrees higher than normal throughout the entire territory, with an increase of 8-12 degrees in Lori, Tavush, and Syunik.
In the coming days, the existing anomalously high thermal background will not only be maintained but may also increase further. Starting from February 8, a wave of hot air from the northern regions of the Sahara Desert will penetrate the republic, resulting in a further temperature rise of 4-6 degrees between February 8-9.
On these days, record high temperatures of up to +20…+23 degrees are expected in the lowland areas of Syunik and Tavush. In the Ararat Plain and Yerevan, temperatures will reach +12…+14 degrees, which is also a significantly high figure.
