40-Year-Old Man Charged with Stealing 650,000 Dram and 700 Dollars from Aunt's Apartment
The preliminary investigation into the case of theft by a resident of Ejmiatsin from his aunt's apartment has been completed by the Vaqarshapat Investigative Division of the Armavir Regional Investigative Committee.
The investigation has established and substantiated that a 40-year-old man, born in 1980, secretly stole 650,000 Armenian Dram and 700 US Dollars belonging to his aunt while living in her apartment.
During the investigation, it was found that the man, not having the right to enter the bedroom of the mentioned apartment where his aunt's personal belongings were kept, illegally entered that room by opening the door with the intent of committing theft from January to February 2020, and stole the aforementioned significant sums of money.
Subsequently, instead of the stolen money, he placed 7 souvenir banknotes of 100 US Dollars, which are not a means of payment, as well as 4 counterfeit banknotes of 10,000 Armenian Dram and 12 banknotes of 20,000 Armenian Dram printed by him through a computer. These were discovered by his aunt when she came to her room to take the money he had placed.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the resident of Ejmiatsin has been charged under Article 177, part 3, point 1.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (theft). The measure of restraint chosen against him is a signature not to leave.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
