The Authorities Have Changed Their Mind: "Hraparak"
Probably, a new draft Electoral Code will be published this week, said Daniel Ioannisyan, head of the 'Informed Citizens' Union NGO, yesterday. According to him, the new code will no longer include the proportional electoral system and if the Parliament adopts the draft, the upcoming elections will be conducted through a proportional electoral system.
It seems that the Electoral Code draft will be voted on in the National Assembly at the end of April, as they have decided to also listen to the opinion of the Venice Commission, whose meeting will be held in March. Ioannisyan also stated that it would be preferable to hold elections only 6 months after the code is adopted: "Of course, technically, it is possible even after a month, but it is not desirable." Judging by these statements, it can be inferred that the authorities have changed their minds and are planning to conduct snap elections as early as autumn. This is reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.
