Roads Closed and Impassable in Armenia, 560 Trucks Accumulated at Lars
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported that there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia. The Vardenyats Pass is impassable for trucks with trailers but open for all other vehicles. The roads from the high-altitude meteorological station 'Amberd' in Aragatsotn Province towards Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari are closed.
In Gegharkunik and Syunik Provinces, there are patches of icy road. From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on February 4, the road segment Aghtala-Nexot on the Vanadzor-Aalaverdi-Georgia border (M-6) will be closed due to construction works. No detour route will be established.
According to information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all vehicles. On the Russian side, there are about 500 trucks accumulated.
As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the ban on entry to Georgia for foreigners remains in effect. The ban does not apply to cargo transport. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
