30-Year-Old Mother Dies at Beglaryan Medical Center's Maternity Ward; Relatives Demand Answers
Currently, a large group of residents from the village of Nor Kesar باز of the Armavir region have gathered in the yard of the Beglaryan Medical Center in Yerevan, demanding clear answers regarding the circumstances that led to the death of their 30-year-old villager Nelli Arshakyan, who was brought to the maternity ward in good health.
In an interview with photojournalist G. Shamshyan, the deceased's sister, Bella, states, “On January 31, we brought Nelli, who was to have her third child, to the maternity hospital in good health without any complaints. They examined her, and on February 1, she gave birth to a girl. The maternity ward informed us that both the mother and baby were fine and had no health issues. We then went home, celebrating with family that Nelli had given birth to a healthy girl. This morning at 8 am, they called from the maternity ward, saying Nelli's condition had worsened and asking her husband to come in.”
Upon arriving, her relatives learned that the healthy mother had died. “It’s as if they have vanished into thin air. We know we cannot bring Nelli back, but we want those responsible to be punished, because there must be guilty parties, so that no other families experience this pain in the future. Who has seen a person being brought to a maternity wards healthy in the 21st century, only to learn hours later that the maternity ward has brought them this devastating news?” said the deceased mother’s sister.
Just a short while ago, the sister discovered the identity of the anesthetist and the nurse who administered injections, but was told that anesthetist Anna Kzlguyozhyan and Anahit Hayrapetyan had worked at night and had gone home. “We are convinced that they administered more than the proper dosage to our healthy sister, causing her condition to worsen and resulting in her death,” she added.
The photojournalist reports that the deceased mother had two underage sons, future soldiers, who were very happy when they learned they had a little sister. They were eagerly waiting to see when their father would bring their mother and sister home. The photojournalist also reports that upon seeing a large crowd gathered at the maternity ward entrance, the doors have been bolted from the inside, preventing people from entering. An operational group from the Central Police Department, alongside investigator from the investigative unit, has arrived at the maternity ward, and preparations are underway regarding the case. By the investigator's decision, a forensic medical examination has been ordered.
