Armenian Railway Updates Technological Vehicle Fleet
The South Caucasian Railway Company has initiated the process of updating its technological vehicle fleet. In the first phase, three new UAZ brand high-passability vehicles have been transferred to the Sevan linear section.
The company reports that it plans to acquire an additional six similar vehicles by the end of the year. The need for such equipment is due to the complex terrain of the railway, as well as the requirement for workers to maintain railway lines under various weather conditions.
The new vehicles will replace transport units manufactured in the 1990s, significantly easing the work process while maintaining safety standards. At the same time, the process of renewing rolling stock continues. At the end of 2020, the company purchased and brought to Armenia another batch of 70 units of semi-wagons as part of the freight rolling stock renewal program, which will serve import-export transportation.
The process of updating both the technological vehicle fleet and rolling stock will continue.
