Approximately 470 Trucks Stranded on the Russian Side of Lars
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed roads in the Republic of Armenia. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for cargo vehicles and difficult to traverse for passenger vehicles. The roads leading from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to Karch Lake in the Aragatsotn region are also closed.
In the Kotayk and Syunik regions, as well as on the Vayots Dzor region’s Saravan-Zanger segment, and on the roads leading to the towns of Vayk and Jermuk, there are patches of black ice.
According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia's Emergency Management Service and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations' North Ossetia Crisis Management Center, the Stepanstminda-Lars road is only closed for cargo vehicles. Currently, there are approximately 470 stranded cargo trucks on the Russian side.
According to the information received from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision to prohibit foreigners from entering Georgia remains in effect. However, the ban does not apply to freight transportation. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
