"An Answer Will Be Given Soon": New Ruling on the Judge Who Released Kocharyan

The Armenian Court of Appeals has upheld the decision of Judge Davit Balayan concerning the termination of the criminal proceedings against Judge Davit Grigoryan. This was announced by his attorney, Ervand Varosyan, on his Facebook page. Varosyan noted that the Appeals Court rejected the appeal filed by the prosecution.

On June 5, 2020, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan made a decision to terminate the criminal case against Judge Davit Grigoryan and court secretary Gor Vardanyan. The Special Investigation Service had charged Davit Grigoryan under part 1 of Article 314 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (on two counts), while Gor Vardanyan was charged under part 1 of Article 38-314 (on two counts). Davit Grigoryan is accused of committing official forgery, while Gor Vardanyan is accused of aiding in the commission of the official forgery.
