Makunts Confirms Her Appointment as Armenia's Ambassador to the USA is on the Agenda

In an interview with Azatutyun, Lilith Makunts, the head of the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly, addressed speculations regarding her potential appointment as Armenia's ambassador to the USA. She confirmed that such a matter is indeed on the agenda but is still in the discussion phase. A public announcement will be made after final clarification.

In response to Hrayr Tamrazyan's observation that Makunts has excellent command of English, he questioned whether she possesses the necessary diplomatic experience for such a position. Makunts replied that, as is the case worldwide, ambassadors are appointed through diplomatic and political means. 'There are no restrictions for political appointments. As for my experience, I believe it has been public through parliamentary diplomacy. While experience is extremely important, in some cases, it does not hold the primary role,' Makunts stated.
