As of January 24, a total of 1283 bodies have been discovered, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations
The State Emergency Service of Artsakh summarizes the week.
According to the Artsakh State Emergency Service, from January 17 to 24, 2021, the crisis management center received 895 calls. Compared to the previous week, there has been an increase in road traffic accidents and fires in the last 7 days.
Due to the heavy snowfall in Artsakh, the service received 4 calls regarding road traffic accidents. Four citizens were injured as a result of the accidents, and one person died. The rapid response special unit managed to rescue the affected citizens from a gorge 80 meters deep and provided first aid. Their condition is stable.
During the past week, 9 fire incidents were recorded, 4 of which were in residential buildings, while the others occurred in social and public buildings or open areas. Firefighting units carried out timely fire suppression measures, and there were no casualties from the fires.
The discovery of weapons and ammunition, as well as their disposal or storage processes, continue. In the last 7 days, the service received 68 calls regarding the discovery of various types of military munitions. Along with the rescue service's sappers, the process of clearing the territory of Artsakh from potential threats has also involved the Humanitarian Demining Center Foundation, the Hello Trust NGO demining center, and Russian military sappers.
During the specified period, 46 household calls were registered. In addition to helping the population (opening doors or elevators, transporting patients, water supply, and other technical assistance), the operational groups also provided consultations.
Since November 13, 2020, the service's units have continued search and rescue operations in territories outside the control of Artsakh. As of January 24, 2021, a total of 1283 bodies have been discovered.
Last week, some rescuers from the Martakert State Emergency Department, who excelled in humanitarian efforts during and after military operations, were awarded departmental prizes by the director of the service, Major General Karen Sargsyan.
The State Emergency Service continues its operations in an enhanced mode as long as there is a "State of War" in Artsakh.
