Protest Against Coronavirus Restrictions in Tbilisi

A protest is being held today in Tbilisi against the restrictions imposed in the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This information was reported by Sputnik Georgia.

Tbilisi residents have raised banners that read “Open the country,” “Let tourism work,” and others.

The restrictions in Georgia are quite stringent, with the metro, buses, and taxis not operational. These measures were introduced in November 2020 due to a significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections, which at that time began to reach five thousand daily.

Schools in Georgia are also closed, and they are set to reopen in several cities starting February 1. However, in Tbilisi, both schools and transportation will not resume operations until at least March.

A curfew is in effect across the country, prohibiting movement without special permission from 9 PM to 5 AM.
