Labor Shortage Felt: Stepanakert Municipality Expects Citizens' Help in Snow Removal Work
Some of the technical units have either remained under Azerbaijani control or are inoperable due to the war. As a result, the machinery and tractor fleet seriously needs to be replenished. This was reported on the Stepanakert Municipality's Facebook page regarding snow removal operations.
"Dear citizens, we understand that the consequences of the heavy snowfall have created several problems for you. The Stepanakert Municipality is engaged with the relevant departments to neutralize these difficulties as soon as possible. Snow removal vehicles are circulating the streets and making the roads passable for traffic. The cleaning of sidewalks is mainly carried out by human labor.
However, several circumstances hinder the timely and proper implementation of the work:
- In the last month, the number of vehicles circulating in the city has significantly increased, negatively impacting the efforts to prevent black ice.
- Queues are forming in various parts of the city to benefit from support programs, and in some areas, snow removal operations have become nearly impossible.
- Since the war, there has been a shortage of labor. The existing human resources are insufficient to address urgent issues.
- Some of the technical units have either remained under Azerbaijani control or are inoperable. As a result, there is a critical need to significantly replenish the machinery and tractor fleet.
We ask for our compatriots' understanding and expect their support in addressing the mentioned issues, whatever they can contribute. Meanwhile, we continue our work using our available resources to the fullest extent possible."
