Brothers from Oshakan Detained in Connection with 19-Year-Old's Murder

On January 21, the officers from the criminal investigation and community police departments of the Ashtarak division, led by department head Ruben Nersisyan, acted upon received operational information and located two residents of Oshakan village, 20-year-old Gegham Alaverdyan and 17-year-old Hovhannes Alaverdyan. According to reports from Gagik Shamshyan, they are suspected of being involved in a conflict with 19-year-old Armen Sargsyan from the village of Sasunik, Aragatsotn Province, on the same day in Ashtarak city, near the Mikoyan brothers' address 33, resulting in the young man's murder.

As per G. Shamshyan's information, G. Alaverdyan has been detained based on the investigator's decision, while a preventive measure has been chosen for H. Alaverdyan, involving a signature to not leave his place of residence.

Earlier, it was reported that a murder occurred in Aragatsotn Province on January 21. At around 1:50 PM, the Ashtarak Medical Center notified the police that the body of a deceased young man had been brought to them. An operational group from the Ashtarak police department, led by department head Ruben Nersisyan, and a team from the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Aragatsotn regional investigative department, headed by senior investigator Mkrtich Stepanyan, responded to the scene.

Officers and investigators established that the deceased was indeed 19-year-old Armen Sargsyan from the village of Sasunik. According to preliminary conclusions by the forensic expert, he had sustained injuries to his chest and abdomen from a sharp, cutting, and stabbing object. They determined that the fatal knife wounds were inflicted on him near the Mikoyan brothers' address, 33, in Ashtarak city.
