Azerbaijan Charges Two Armenians in Custody with Terrorism
Hagop Terzyan and Hagop Hajiryn have been charged in Azerbaijan. The Lebanese citizens had come to Artsakh during the war to protect their historical homeland, during which they were captured. Azerbaijani media reports that they have been charged with terrorism.
The charges have been filed under Article 228.3 of Azerbaijan's Criminal Code, concerning illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and military equipment, as well as under Articles 214.2.1 and 214.2.3 for group and premeditated terrorism. Additionally, they face charges under Article 279.2 for creating armed formations or groups not sanctioned by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participating in them, supplying them with weapons, military ammunition, explosives, military equipment, or military attire, as well as engaging in such groups against a backdrop of religious enmity and religious extremism.
