Artsakh Parliament Approves Bill for New Ministry Formation

The Artsakh Parliament voted on January 22 to approve a law that will incorporate the State Emergency Service and the Police of the Republic of Artsakh into a single entity under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This information was reported by the National Assembly.

During the extraordinary session of Parliament on January 22, in addition to other agenda items, discussions were held regarding the package of draft laws on amendments to the law on the State Emergency Service of the Republic of Artsakh, amendments and additions to the law on the Police, and amendments and additions to the law on service in the Police.

According to Karen Danielyan, the official representative of the President of Artsakh and the Minister of Justice, the change in the draft law is related to the optimization of the public administration system and the enhancement of efficiency and accountability in the context of the situation created after the 2020 military operations.

The draft law also proposes that the direct leadership of the State Emergency Service and the Police be carried out by the respective heads of the Emergency Service and the Police, while overall leadership would be managed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Artsakh.
