Armenia Leads EAEU in Cargo Transportation Volume Growth
Armenia was the only country in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to register an increase in cargo transportation volumes from January to November 2020 compared to the same months of the previous year, with an increase of 1.9%, reaching a total volume of 13.5 million tons. Notably, there was growth in the volumes transported via pipeline, rail, and road transport, while only air transport recorded a decline. This information was reported on the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Overall, during the first eleven months of 2020, EAEU cargo transportation volumes amounted to 11 billion 19.4 million tons, marking a decrease of 7.2% compared to the same months in 2019. In Belarus, these figures were at 366.4 million tons, with a decrease of 7.1%. In Kazakhstan, the transportation volumes included shipments from individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transfers; the country’s transport cargo volumes were 3 billion 576.5 million tons, down by 6.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. Kyrgyzstan's cargo transportation volume for the first eleven months of last year was 24.0 million tons, decreasing by 21.6%, while Russia recorded figures of 7 billion 39.0 million tons, representing a decline of 7.3%.
