Where Have Your Historical Knowledge Gone? Tevan Poghosyan to the Prime Minister

The advisor to the President of Armenia and former MP, Tevan Poghosyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

“Once again, I am convinced that there is no one in the current government who holds the reins of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process. What kind of nonsense is this about the return of former residents to Shushi, even 90% of them? First, would they even want to return while accepting the citizenship of the Republic of Artsakh? After all, you considered that Artsakh should come to the negotiating table to determine its status. Or was that not your goal in the past 2.5 years? Were you really determining the price of loss, based on the good will of Azerbaijan and Aliyev? What else would they have wanted or not wanted? And now, are you going to fight for the only historical Armenian city in the region—Shushi—for the Armenian population there until September 27, for Hadrut and the residents of Hadrut? Yes, as of that date, the population of Shushi was 100% Armenian. But were you not the ones who spoke in Munich since the times of Tigran the Great? So where have your historical knowledge gone? At least remember a mere 100 years ago, when 90% of Shushi’s inhabitants were not Azerbaijanis. Well, which one can you leave behind? You have lost, take political responsibility and step down. Step down for the sake of Armenia. Kindly step away, for God’s sake, step back peacefully, at least for once guided by the interest of Armenia.

Ps. The fact that the issue of Armenian captives has never been raised in the National Assembly hall does not correspond to reality. I myself did this when I was still an MP. But I remember another case. In early April 2016, there was a closed discussion and it was drawing to a close. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was even carrying out diplomacy with us during the closed discussion. I couldn't take it anymore and posed a question: ‘Levon Ter-Petrosyan once said that during his time, only 6 people were in charge of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations. Considering that only 4 from Kocharian's time remained operational, and during Sarkisian's time, again only two were operational, that leaves two. Are you one of those two people and does it make sense to ask you questions? If not, could a representative from the Ministry of Defense approach the podium so that we can at least ask him questions and get some answers?’ After my question, the presidency did just that, requesting to give way to a representative of the Ministry of Defense.”
