They Want to Present a Law Aimed at Specifically Restricting Me: Arthur Vanetsyan
For a considerable time now, there have been rumors circulating regarding the intentions of the local authorities to introduce a bill that would regulate the engagement of former directors of the National Security Service in politics. According to circulating information, the authorities are concerned that those former NSS directors who have been dismissed in recent years have begun to actively participate in political activities.
ArmLur.am tried to ask former NSS director and leader of the 'Homeland' party, Arthur Vanetsyan, for his opinion on this matter. 'I believe that this is being done purposefully. They want to present a targeted law aimed at specifically restricting me, so that I cannot engage in politics. However, the law cannot have retroactive effect, and initiating such a law is a mistake. An NSS employee is a citizen who enjoys all the rights of the people, and restricting a citizen from engaging in various activities is a violation of human rights, which I consider unacceptable,' he stated.
We also attempted to discuss these issues with former NSS director Mikael Hambartsumyan and Davit Shahnazaryan, but they categorically refused to answer our questions,' the article reads. You can read the full article in today’s edition of the newspaper.
