Kazakhstan Bans Import of Azerbaijani Tomatoes

The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has announced that temporary quarantine phytosanitary measures began on January 16, resulting in restrictions on the importation of tomatoes from Azerbaijan, according to minval.az.

According to the data from the State Inspectorate Committee in the agro-industrial complex of the Ministry of Agriculture, during quarantine phytosanitary supervision of the imported tomatoes from Azerbaijan, the ToBRFV virus was detected in 17 cases. In this regard, the Committee has decided to impose temporary phytosanitary quarantine.

Following international ISPM No. 13 standards on guidelines for notifications of non-compliance and emergencies, a notification has been sent to Azerbaijan indicating that the virus could lead to a loss of 30 to 70 percent of the crop.
