The Frequency of Vehicle Inspections Will Change
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted amendments to the "Law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety" and a package of related legislative proposals in the second reading and in full.
According to Armenpress, the draft law proposed by the government suggests changing the frequency of technical inspections of vehicles.
“In order to enhance the oversight of the technical inspection process, it is proposed to carry out oversight through an electronic database and a defect diagnostic card instead of the current technical inspection receipt. The defect diagnostic card is filled out electronically and stored in the electronic database, which will allow the Road Police to conduct oversight electronically, without stopping the vehicle,” stated Armen Simonian, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia.
The frequency of technical inspections is being changed. It is proposed that the first technical inspection be conducted in the 4th year of release, then every 2 years until the vehicle reaches 10 years of age, and for vehicles older than 10 years, once a year.
Passenger transport vehicles with up to 10 years of operation will undergo technical inspections once a year, while those over 10 years will undergo inspections twice a year.
The legislative package was adopted in the second reading and in full with 83 votes in favor, 24 against, and 4 abstentions.
