President Signs Law on Political Parties

President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian has signed amendments and changes to the constitutional law on "Political Parties," changes and amendments to the constitutional law on the "Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia," additions and changes to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, amendments and changes to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia, additions to the law on the "Prevention of Corruption Commission," amendments to the law on "Audiovisual Media," and changes and amendments to the law on the state registration of legal entities, separate subdivisions of legal entities, institutions, and individual entrepreneurs, as well as changes and amendments to the law on the circulation of credit information and the activities of credit bureaus, as reported by the presidential administration.

It is noteworthy that on December 29, the National Assembly adopted a package of amendments to the constitutional law on "Political Parties" with 99 votes in favor and 1 against during an extraordinary session. The amendments are expected to introduce significant changes, liberalization, and simplification related to the registration and establishment of political parties. An important direction of the changes is to enhance the financial transparency of political parties.
