Is Tigranashen Threatened by the Fate of Shurnukh and Vorotan? Prime Minister
During a Q&A session with government officials, the Prime Minister of Armenia did not give a clear answer to the question posed by Iveta Tonoyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction, regarding whether Tigranashen is threatened by the fate of the communities of Shurnukh and Vorotan.
“You decided Shurnukh's fate when you voted in favor of the 2010 law on 'Administrative-Territorial Division.' At that time, when you were adopting this law, didn’t you think about this? Why, for example, is no one from this podium raising the question of what will happen to the village of Artavaz? Enough of just saying 'Shurnukh, Shurnukh...' You decided that beyond the road is the Republic of Azerbaijan,” said Pashinyan.
He also emphasized that there are areas in the Ararat and Tavush regions that are still under Azerbaijani control. “Why do you not pose a question to the government about why the return of these territories is not being raised?”
Noting that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is unresolved, Pashinyan remarked that due to the situation, there are many issues that remain unaddressed.
