“What hope does Nikol Pashinyan have when he talks about open borders? How can we blindly trust Turkey and Azerbaijan? They will first temporarily open the borders with Armenia, take control of the Meghri Corridor, and then close the borders. Armenia will no longer be able to take countermeasures by closing the Meghri Corridor, as that corridor will effectively be part of Armenia but outside of Armenia’s control and will have a separate status. At that point, if Armenia attempts to close the corridor, Turkey and Azerbaijan will threaten a new war,” stated Andrey Deviatov, a former officer of the GRU and military expert.
