Exemption from 2020 Winter Draft Granted to Several Citizens
The agenda for the government's regular meeting on January 21 includes a draft decision to grant exemptions from the 2020 winter draft of conscripts to several citizens who have made significant achievements in the fields of culture and arts. The draft states:
“Based on Article 22, Part 5 of the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen, and the Order of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 457-N dated April 12, 2018, points 6 and 7, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decides to grant exemptions from the 2020 winter draft to the following citizens who have made significant achievements in the fields of culture and arts until the 2022 winter draft:
- Gor Andranik Sargsyan (born December 6, 2002): Gor is currently a second-year student in the “Classical Dance” department at the State College of Dance of Yerevan. Guarantees have been presented on behalf of the Honored Artist of Armenia, Artistic Director of the State College of Dance of Yerevan, Hovhannes Divanyan, and Honored Artists V. Galstyan, N. Mehrabyan, E. Mnatsakanyan, and Honored Artist A. Marikyans.
- Arthur Hamleti Grigoryan (born October 26, 2002): Arthur is a first-year student in the bachelor's degree with a focus on “Instrumental Performance - Piano” at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan. Guarantees have been presented on behalf of the Honored Artist of Armenia, Professor Eduard Tadevosyan, and Honored Artist, composer, conductor Yervand Yerznkyan. Arthur has performed numerous concerts and solo performances in Armenia and abroad, including with the Armenian Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as participating in international festivals and competitions. In 2019, he performed in Germany during the “ClaviCologne” International Competition festival. From 2017 to 2018, he held concerts in France, Switzerland, Vienna, and Salzburg. Arthur has also taken masterclasses with A. Zhakun, P. Baglieri, S. Navasar, A. Gorlakh, D. Alexeyev, and D. Bashkirov.
- Georg Karapet Matinyan (born July 25, 2002): Georg studies in the piano division at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, under Professor Hubert Rutkowski. He studied from 2008 to 2015 at the “Aregnazan” educational complex, from 2009 to 2013 at the Sayat Nova Music School in Yerevan, in the class of Diana Khachatryan, and from 2016 to 2019 under Honored Artist Professor Villy Sargsyan. He has also studied at the P. I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy from 2016 to 2019, and with docent Areg Sargsyan during the same period. Guarantees have been presented on behalf of Honored Artist Professor Armen Babakhanyan, and Honored Artist Professor Villy Sargsyan from the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan.
- Andrei Sergei Kurbet (born July 16, 2002): Andrei is enrolled in the bachelor’s program in “Performing Arts - Instrumental Performance - Piano” at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan. Since the age of six, Andrei has participated in over ten international and national competitions and festivals, representing Armenia in various countries (Italy, France, Russia, USA). Guarantees have been submitted on his behalf by Honored Artist Professor Eduard Tadevosyan and Honored Artist, composer, conductor Yervand Yerznkyan.
It is noted that the exemption is granted for the purpose of improving their professional skills and promoting Armenian performing arts on international platforms.
