We Are Ready to Stand by Armenia and Especially by Those Affected by the War, EU Ambassador

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Mesrop Araqelyan, held a working meeting today with the European Union Ambassador Andrea Victorin. This was reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.

The Minister praised the cooperation with the European Union, emphasizing the role of friendly relations between the parties in the context of having a socially strong economy.

“Since the end of the war, numerous social programs have been implemented through both direct funding and food assistance, including several international organizations. We highly appreciate your support in this matter, which has somewhat mitigated the social problems of citizens,” stated Araqelyan.

The EU Ambassador inquired about the details of the support programs directed toward the Armenians of Artsakh, expressing hope that the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh will be quickly overcome: “The year 2020 was a difficult year for Armenia - the coronavirus pandemic, the war, and the post-war situation. We are ready to stand by Armenia, especially for those who have suffered as a result of the war.”

In discussing the ongoing programs and their progress, Minister Araqelyan also emphasized the organization of the return of Artsakh residents currently in Armenia, along with measures to secure social guarantees for them.

During the meeting, the parties also addressed the prospects for short-term and long-term cooperation, highlighting the need for joint efforts to ensure their success.
