Trump Lifts U.S. Entry Restrictions; Biden Opposes Move
The current U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an order lifting entry restrictions into the country that were imposed due to the spread of the coronavirus. This affects citizens of Schengen Area countries, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Brazil. CNN reports this, citing the White House press service.
The decision will take effect on January 26. The text of the document states that unrestricted entry for persons from the aforementioned countries will no longer harm U.S. interests. The temporary ban on entry from China and Iran remains in effect.
Trump signed the order one day before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. At the same time, Democratic representative Jen Psaki announced on her Twitter page that Biden would not allow Trump to eliminate these restrictions.
