Snow Removal Efforts Currently Ineffective Due to Heavy Precipitation, City Hall Responds

Due to heavy precipitation and high traffic density, snow removal efforts are not being conducted in certain areas of Yerevan. This was stated by the head of the information and public relations department of the Yerevan City Hall, Iosif Kubatyan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.

“Since this morning, 51 vehicles and nearly 300 employees of the communal enterprise ‘Yerevan Waste Collection and Sanitation’ have been engaged in snow removal efforts. However, due to the heavy precipitation and traffic congestion, it is currently impossible to carry out snow removal operations effectively in certain parts of the city,” Kubatyan said. “The flow of vehicles is quite dense, and some irresponsible drivers are using summer tires, creating blockages and accidents, which prevents our vehicles from conducting snow clearance.”

According to him, there is no specific schedule for snow removal operations; work is carried out around the clock as long as it is snowing. “Operations began this morning and will continue throughout the day, including at night. Even if it snows at night, there will definitely be work to do,” Kubatyan stated.

The press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor, Hakob Karapetyan, also mentioned on Facebook that snow removal is being carried out by 29 salt-spreading and snow-clearing units, 15 tractors, and 2 dump trucks, along with employees from the ‘Greening and Environmental Protection’ community enterprise.
