“LEV’S, MY ANUSH BAL” - Father of Fallen Soldier Files Report on Crime

Karen Levonian wrote on his Facebook page: “LEV’S, MY ANUSH BAL. Today would mark the fifth month of your conscript military service, if... I kindly ask my friends on Facebook to share this material, as its dissemination is directly proportional to your attitude towards the tragedy that has befallen my family.

REPORT ON CRIME OR QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED BY A GRIEVING PARENT:

  1. How is it that on September 27, 2020, at the onset of the war, some unit commanders, realizing and orienting themselves in this situation, kept 1-2 month conscripts in reserve, including locking them in bunkers, while the immediate commander of the Martuni-3 unit, Commandant Gor Ishkhanian, sent my son to the front line just 12 days after arriving at the unit – a soldier who had heard about the mortar weapon for only 2 days and had restrictions in military service due to health issues, diagnosed with bradycardia and tachycardia?
  2. How is it that the unit command, failing to ensure the rotation of my son’s mortar platoon after fighting continuously for 30 days in the war, decided to transfer the exhausted platoon to the most intense battle area of those days near the Red Market and instructed them to establish positions to fight, then retreat, re-establish positions to fight, and retreat again, and then fight once more? They did it in such a way that on the fifth day, without being able to fully establish and prepare the necessary shelters, they were engaged in battle and targeted by the enemy. My son was killed simply because he physically did not have enough time to properly prepare his shelter due to being exhausted, worn out, and suffering from health issues – he was merely a 70-day soldier.
  3. How is it that combat-ready units and platoons from the Martuni-3 defensive positions, including my son’s mortar platoon, were transferred to other combat positions and the command management observation posts were surrendered to the enemy?
  4. And finally, how is it that in the most intense battle areas, my son’s mortar platoon was essentially left under the command of someone without experience, who had even less time in service than my son?

This chain of questions is endless. There are longer questions, some are shorter, but the answers are STILL lacking. I emphasize STILL, as I still hope that our law enforcement can uncover the treacherous command group – up to the highest command – whose members evidently betrayed the soldier fighting to defend the Homeland, and who are now trying in every way to evade responsibility.

P.S. High legal awareness does not always protect your family. If I had used my resources and taken measures regarding my son’s illness in a timely manner, including illegal ones, to exempt Levon from military service, my family would not be suffering this cruel pain now.”
