Increased Theft Incidents in the South Caucasus Railway System: Statement
Since the beginning of 2021, there has been an increase in external influences on the railway system managed by the South Caucasus Railway Company in Armenia. This is stated in the company's press release.
"For instance, on January 4, unknown individuals stole 20 meters of communication cable in the Artashat-Masis section. On January 12, there was an attempt to steal a section of high-voltage power line in the Dilijan-Fiolotov section, resulting in a short circuit. On January 14, communication cable was stolen in the 102nd kilometer of the Dzovagyugh-Shorja section. On the same day, unknown individuals damaged the duty officer's room at the 'Almast' station, causing damage to property under the company’s jurisdiction. On January 15, unknown individuals broke the entrance door and window of the 'Armavir' station building, causing material damage. In all cases, the South Caucasus Railway is closely cooperating with the country's law enforcement agencies to identify the perpetrators and prevent such incidents in the future," the statement reads.
