I am confident that the crisis will continue after the early elections: Marukyan

We have not put forward a demand for early elections; that is the ruling party's agenda. This was stated today, January 19, in a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly by Edmon Marukyan, the head of the "Bright Armenia" faction.

"The ruling party has seen that there is no consensus on conducting early elections, and now they say they don't want to, they won't do it. They claim they are afraid they won’t pass, and that’s why they don’t want to. In response, I say the following: we are ready for both early or regular elections at any moment. Whenever the National Assembly is dissolved, if elections are held, we are prepared. But there is only one mechanism for dissolving the National Assembly: the Prime Minister must resign, after which the Assembly must fail to elect a Prime Minister twice. After that, the parliament is dissolved, and elections must be organized 40 days later. In other words, if they want to hold early elections, let them not shift the burden onto anyone else; they should just resign, and the elections must be organized," said Marukyan.
