Residents of Kapan Offered to Download App for $18 and Record Themselves, Says Samvel Martirosyan
The director of the Information Institute NGO, Arthur Papyan, shared a screenshot on his Facebook page and wrote: "In one week, 10 people expressed their willingness to download some unknown app on their iPhone for $18 and record themselves using the selfie camera while performing tasks displayed on the screen. The 'work' is intended for residents of Kapan."
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, security expert Samvel Martirosyan stated that the purpose of the program is to record videos and send them to the client. "You cannot see how these videos are processed, what is done with them, and how they are used. In this case, it is important to know who ordered it and what exactly was ordered."
When asked which country the program belongs to, Martirosyan noted, "The country of the organization that created the program is absolutely irrelevant; that organization fulfills orders for other countries, meaning it acts as a mediator with orders from numerous countries. Therefore, it's impossible to know who the real client is."
Regarding whether the program is only intended for Kapan or if data is also being collected from other places, Martirosyan replied, "I have encountered Kapan, but they are spreading a massive number of advertisements; it is possible there are others. Similar videos are being paid for around the world. This company is a mediator that takes orders, processes them using artificial intelligence, and delivers them to the client."
