Packages Resembling Opioid Drugs Found on Inmate at Armavir Penitentiary
The inmate T.M. at the Armavir Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia simulated a sudden deterioration of health in order to illegally obtain drugs, leading to his urgent transfer to the Vagharshapat Medical Center on January 16 at approximately 17:15. However, no health issues were detected during medical examination, and he was returned to the facility.
Subsequently, in order to carry out his criminal intent, T.M. again faked a health deterioration at around 00:55, prompting another transfer to the Erebuni Medical Center. After undergoing another medical examination, he was returned to the Armavir Penitentiary at approximately 04:30.
Staff at the penitentiary, acting on operational data, conducted a personal search of inmate T.M., during which he attempted to discreetly throw a package he had concealed in his waistband on the floor, refusing to comply with lawful demands of the officers. The inspection of the package revealed two separate packages weighing 3.0 and 3.02 grams that resembled opioid drugs, as well as a glass vial filled with a transparent solution reminiscent of an anhydride, intended for injecting drugs.
In addition, the facility's personnel searched the inmate's cell and discovered two mobile phones, a Wi-Fi device, and a USB cable. Preparations are being made regarding the incident, and a forensic chemical examination has been ordered.
