Mass Vaccination Against Coronavirus Begins in Russia Today

As of January 18, mass vaccinations against the coronavirus are starting in the regions of the Russian Federation. This information was reported by TASS.

It is noted that all residents wishing to be vaccinated can do so. According to media reports, those interested can receive a free vaccination with one of the two registered vaccines. These are 'Sputnik V', developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute, and 'EpiVacCorona', developed by the Vektor State Research Center.

It should be reminded that vaccinations in the country began on December 10, but only doctors, teachers, and individuals with chronic illnesses were eligible. It is clarified that by the end of January, a total of 2.1 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine will be put into civilian circulation.

In this regard, Anna Popova, head of 'Rospotrebnadzor', stated that the coronavirus vaccination in Russia should be organized in such a way that collective immunity can be formed by the beginning of the 'epidemic season' expected in autumn. At the same time, according to her, vaccination could potentially cover 60% of the country's population in the first year.
