Illegal Weapons Surrendered: Machine Guns, Rifles, and Grenades as a Result of Police Outreach

As a result of outreach efforts by officers of the Yeghhegnadzor division of the police, a 53-year-old man voluntarily surrendered a "Kalashnikov" machine gun and more than 20 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition that he had brought from Artsakh. Similarly, a man living in Sevan surrendered a "Kalashnikov" assault rifle to the police there, stating that it belonged to his deceased grandfather.

Another resident from Dzovagugh voluntarily handed over a grenade launcher and an "F-1" type grenade, along with 60 rounds of loaded magazines, which also belonged to his late grandfather. Additional voluntary surrenders of illegal firearms and ammunition have been recorded at the Vardenis and Gavar police divisions in the Gegharkunik region, where a "Carbine" and "TOZ" type hunting rifles, as well as several dozen rounds and explosives of various calibers, were surrendered.

Citizens also turned in "TOZ" and "Carbine" rifles at the Artashat and Kumayri police departments. The Kumayri division received various types of grenades and more than 30 rounds for assault rifles. A 34-year-old man residing in Yerevan surrendered a factory-numbered "TOZ" hunting rifle and over 10 rounds at the internal security division of the police due to their explanatory work.

A 67-year-old man living in Yerevan handed over a factory-less "Kalashnikov" assault rifle and 8 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, also following the outreach efforts of the police in the Erebuni division. Additionally, effective outreach work by investigators from the Kanaker-Zeytun division led to a woman surrendering her late husband's "Kalashnikov" assault rifle, a magazine, and 90 rounds of ammunition to the police.

It is important to remind that those who voluntarily surrender illegal firearms are exempt from criminal liability. In this context, the explanatory work of police officers continues.
