On January 18, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received Giovanni Rubini, the CEO of the Italian company Renco. The parties discussed the progress of the agreement signed on November 13, 2019, which included plans to construct a combined cycle gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 250 megawatts in Yerevan.

Giovanni Rubini presented the ongoing work, noting that although there have been some delays in the established timeline due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the current pace is highly promising, and the power plant can be fully operational by the autumn of 2021. The CEO of Renco expressed gratitude for the support provided by the government.

Tigran Avinyan described the construction of the power plant as a successful project, stating that the issues arising from the pandemic are fully resolvable within the existing capabilities. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed the readiness of the Armenian government to continue cooperation while also conveying satisfaction with the ongoing works.

The parties agreed to continue discussions on future projects, including opportunities and prospects for new investments, as well as a visit by a large group of Italian businessmen to Armenia.
