1238 Remains Discovered from November 13, 2020, to January 17, 2021, According to Artsakh Emergency Situations Service

During the period from January 10 to 17, 2021, the 911 call center of the Artsakh Emergency Situations State Service recorded 1289 calls. The service received 77 alerts regarding the discovery, storage, and destruction of weapons and ammunition. Emergency rescue teams and humanitarian demining centers operating in Artsakh continue to clear settlements as well as mountainous and flat areas in collaboration with Russian military deminers.

In the past week, 16 fire incidents were reported, mostly ignited in open areas due to dry grass burning. Fortunately, no fatal incidents were recorded. Artsakh’s firefighters responded to all calls in a timely manner and mitigated the disasters.

Only one traffic accident report was received during the week, with one individual injured. The operational team of the rapid response special division of the Emergency Situations Service provided first aid and transported the victim to a medical facility.

Throughout the week, 31 domestic calls were logged. All service divisions offered appropriate assistance and support to the residents of Artsakh. The duty groups of the crisis management center simultaneously provided residents with relevant consultations.

The operational teams of the Emergency Situations Service continued search and rescue operations in settlements that have fallen under enemy control, resulting in the discovery of 1238 remains, including the bodies of civilians, from November 13, 2020, to January 17, 2021.

During the past week, the director of the Emergency Situations State Service, Major General Karen Sargsyan, made a working visit to the regional emergency departments in Martuni and Askeran. The service director expressed his gratitude to the personnel for their courage and selflessness during the war, awarding them with departmental medals and honors.
