Approximately 25,000 National Guard troops will be deployed in Washington, D.C. to ensure order during the inauguration of newly elected President Joe Biden. This was reported by RT, citing a statement from the National Guard's press service, which was published on Twitter.

“The Department of Defense has agreed to provide up to 25,000 service members for security during the inauguration of the newly elected president,” the statement reads.

The National Guard will assist the U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of the event.

Earlier, it was reported that U.S. President Donald Trump plans to leave Washington on the morning of inauguration day, January 20. According to sources, Trump intends to hold a farewell event at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where planes used by the U.S. president are stationed. The source adds that Trump plans to later depart for his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
