US Prepares to Vaccinate All Seniors

The United States is distributing the entire stock of the coronavirus vaccine available today, aiming to vaccinate all individuals aged 65 and older, as well as those with health issues. This was reported by 'Voice of America.'

In New York, the vaccination service designated for mass immunizations has the capacity to vaccinate 10,000 people daily. However, currently, the entire state receives only 300,000 doses each week, preventing the service from operating at full capacity. As Howard Zucker from the New York Department of Health states, 'This is almost a wartime situation where human lives are at risk every minute.'

In other states, such as Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the challenge lies in administering the vaccines that are available. Nationwide, 29 million doses have been distributed so far, but only 9 million have been administered.

The federal government has now decided to distribute the entire supply rather than withholding half for second dosages. President-elect Joe Biden is confident that within his first hundred days in office, it will be possible to administer a hundred million doses. He is also exploring ways to ensure that those in greater need and representatives of minorities receive vaccinations.

As of last Tuesday, the United States recorded the highest single-day COVID-19 death toll, with 4,327 people. The total number of deaths in the country has surpassed 380,000 in recent months. Doctors emphasize that the vaccine is the main hope.
