Police Detain Over Ten Individuals Suspected of Drug Possession

In various areas of Yerevan, more than ten individuals were found and detained by the Malatia division of the police, suspected of having illegal drugs in their possession, according to reports from the Public Relations and Media Department of the Republic of Armenia's police.

“Officers from the Main Department of Criminal Police received additional information regarding illegal drug trafficking through various operational-search activities, which were implemented on January 12. The Yerevan Criminal Investigation Department and the Malatia division officers were involved in the operational activities. As a result of an extensive operation, more than ten individuals suspected of having drugs were found and taken to the Malatia division of the police in various parts of the capital. They underwent personal searches, during which substances resembling methamphetamine and marijuana in various weights were discovered, as well as a gas pistol loaded with five bullets.

The operational-search activities continued to determine from whom the detained individuals had acquired the drugs. As a result of professional work, the identity of the dealer was revealed hours later. A 37-year-old man residing in Yerevan was found and taken to the Malatia division of the police on the same day. His search also yielded substances resembling methamphetamine, marijuana, and fentanyl in various weights. The 37-year-old man has been arrested.

Tests have been ordered, and the preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing,” the statement said.
