LHK-Jhangiryan Meeting Took Place in a Friendly Atmosphere
Yesterday, Gagik Jhangiryan, a candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council, met with the "Enlightened Armenia" faction. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, as Edmon Marukyan shares a warm relationship with Jhangiryan, which was formed during the previous parliament when both were members of the National Assembly's State and Legal Affairs Committee.
The LHK asked Jhangiryan about the Mataghis case. The former military prosecutor stated that he maintains his previous "beliefs". Regarding the age limit issue, he mentioned that if his age becomes a point of contention and is disputed, not only will the structure of the Supreme Judicial Council be dissolved, but all decisions and legislative acts signed by the Council's president, Gagik Harutyunyan, who "illegally occupied the position of president at the age of 70", will also be rendered invalid. If all acts signed by him are deemed illegal, then the appointments of judges in the Supreme Judicial Council should also be annulled.
The LHK informed us that they have not yet made a decision on how they will vote on Jhangiryan's candidacy.
