I Believe That Pashinyan Tried to Solve This Issue, But He Didn't Succeed: Edmon Marukyan
The leader of the 'Bright Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, Edmon Marukyan, believes that if the Prime Minister of Armenia had gone to Moscow on January 11 and declared that there would be no agreements and nothing would be signed until the Armenian captives were returned, the issue would have been resolved more quickly. Marukyan stated this during an interview with Public Television.
“Pashinyan should have said: we have made our agreements, and you are not fulfilling yours, therefore I am not signing this document. Now I will return to Armenia, and when you return the prisoners of war, I will sign this second declaration. I believe that he tried to address this issue, but he couldn’t succeed, because he has already become a symbol of defeat… What kind of railway can we have passing through a country that does not give back our prisoners of war, which will be safe for our people, when our people know that their brothers and sisters are imprisoned?” he said.
