Armenian Military Prosecutor Meets with Parents and Relatives of Fallen and Missing Soldiers
On January 13, the Armenian military prosecutor Vahe Harutyunyan met with the parents and relatives of soldiers who fell and went missing during the aggressive war unleashed by the Republic of Artsakh on September 27, 2020. The meeting took place in front of the Armenian military prosecutor's office, where the participants voiced their concerns and pressing questions.
The Public Relations Department of the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office reported that during direct communication, the military prosecutor provided clarifications, assuring that the circumstances leading to the war and its disastrous consequences, as well as the publicly presented information and data, are being verified through numerous criminal cases.
In order to have a more substantive discussion and to clearly record the issues, demands, and suggestions raised by the citizens, the military prosecutor proposed to organize a reception at the military prosecutor's office, which took place the following day, January 14.
During this reception, the Deputy Military Prosecutor Tigran Ambarian met with about a dozen parents and relatives of the fallen and missing soldiers. The meeting was also attended by the head of the department responsible for supervising particularly important cases related to military service at the Armenian Central Military Prosecutor's Office, the military prosecutor of the Yerevan garrison, and other prosecutors.
The citizens presented specific situations and circumstances that they believe require clarification regarding the actions of various units and command structures of the Artsakh Defense Army during the military operations, the management of troops during the war, and the supply of weapons and ammunition. They shared their concerns regarding the lengthy process of identifying the bodies of fallen soldiers and the complexities of the search efforts for missing soldiers.
Deputy Military Prosecutor Tigran Ambarian assured the participants of the meeting that most of the raised issues are already under the attention of relevant prosecutors overseeing the proceedings of the criminal cases, and the additional information provided should become the subject of detailed investigation.
Moreover, the parents were informed that all issues raised in the investigation imply the execution of extensive investigative and other procedural actions, in which context the data relevant to them will definitely become accessible. At the same time, Tigran Ambarian urged cooperation with the prosecuting authorities by providing all known comprehensive information and materials to them.
