Samvel Babayan: Will He Be Able to Activate in Armenia? Attempting to Engage in Pashinyan's New Combinations

Former Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army and former Secretary of the Security Council, Samvel Babayan is currently in Yerevan following his dismissal from office. According to the newspaper "Fact," Babayan has initiated efforts to gather a political team at the urging of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

While he has not yet made a final decision regarding the establishment of a political force, he is attempting to create at least a public-political platform aimed at supporting the Armenian authorities. Of course, Nikol Pashinyan, who has openly supported Babayan's mission in Artsakh over the past 2.5 years, now seeks to ensure a necessary and manageable "opposition" in the National Assembly in light of the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.

Babayan considers his mission in Artsakh to be concluded and is attempting to engage in Pashinyan's new combinations. There are discussions among officials that, given the substantial decline in Babayan's popularity in Artsakh, it was only natural for him to search for a new avenue for self-expression, this time in Armenia.
