Russian Охотник-Б Strike Drone Drops 500 kg Bomb During Tests
The Russian Охотник-Б strike drone has dropped a bomb for the first time in the history of testing this type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This test indicates that the design of such drones is being developed at a rapid pace, as reported by Forbes.
During the test at the Southern Russian Ashuluk military training ground, the Охотник-Б UAV, equipped with a turbojet engine and measuring 14 meters in length, dropped a bomb weighing 500 kg.
It remains unclear how the operators managed the Russian drone during the bomb drop. Most likely, the control of the Охотник-Б strike drone was conducted remotely, via radio. Ultimately, the UAV is expected to feature artificial intelligence, providing it with maximum autonomy.
The Охотник-Б drone is meant to have the capability to autonomously destroy stationary and mobile ground targets with pre-known coordinates.
