No Violation of Law: LHK MP on Jhangiryan's Candidacy for SCC Membership

Ani Samsonyan, a member of the National Assembly's 'Enlightened Armenia' faction, provided details about today's meeting with lawyer and candidate for Constitutional Court membership, Gagik Jhangiryan.

She informed that the faction has not yet decided how it will vote on Jhangiryan's candidacy. 'Not all faction members were present, so we need to hold an additional meeting to decide whether we will participate in the voting or not, and whether we will vote in favor or against,' said Samsonyan.

Referring to discussions on the age limit for member of the SCC, Samsonyan stated that the nomination of 66-year-old Jhangiryan does not constitute a violation of law. 'It's merely a matter of interpretation. There is no hard violation of law to say that Mr. Jhangiryan cannot be nominated. These are matters of interpretation,' Samsonyan noted, adding that they will not question Jhangiryan's legitimacy.
